Apollo Hospital, Bilaspur is the first in the region to successfully perform blood group mismatch kidney transplant in the state. Only live related donors or taken as per the policy and permission for kidney transplant. It has a modern dialysis unit that provides maintenance haemodialysis facilities to patients with CKD and also for all patients with acute kidney injury including CRRT, which is advanced dialysis technic in very sick patients.
In his two decades, old career in Bilaspur India, Dr Pandya noticed that the number of cases of kidney failure related to diabetes is increasing and more prevalent in the region.
Approximately 50% of patients who came with kidney failure were diabetic patients. Diabetic nephropathy is the diagnosis suggesting diabetes as the only cause of kidney failure in the patient. This is closely related to other diabetic complications like retina damage, spillage of protein in urine and high blood pressure. Because it is a silent disease and there are no symptoms in the beginning most patients missed the diagnosis in the early stages. When the patient get the test based on appearance of symptoms it’s already advanced disease where nothing can be done.
The only way to know is to do regular urine and blood test to pick up the disease early.
Hence, Dr Pandya decided to focus on preventive nephrology and committed to bring kidney disease awareness and organise screening camps at his Renexcel Kidney Care centre the motto of which is “ Kidney Health Mission “
